Shooting Star School is a joyful, music-based learning experience where children build confidence, courage, and self-expression through singing, movement, story, and imaginative play. The program transforms a beloved story-world into an ongoing social-emotional learning model for schools and community settings.
Inspired by the original educational musical, JOY & The Shooting Stars, children step into a magical story-world where emotions are welcomed without shame, fear is met with compassion, and inner wisdom is something they learn to hear and trust — again and again.

JOY & The Shooting Stars - The Musical brings the heart and teachings of Shooting Star School to the stage — giving children the opportunity to showcase what they’ve learned and inviting audiences of all ages into an immersive, shared experience.
The musical can stand alone as a joyful performance or serve as a powerful complement to the ongoing Shooting Star School program.
Why Our Work Matters
Many children today are growing up under constant pressure — to perform, fit in, and quiet parts of themselves in order to belong. During these critical years of development, too many young people are left without the emotional support and tools they need to navigate big feelings, relationships, and self-doubt.
Shooting Star School creates a safe, welcoming environment where children can slow down, tune in, and practice meaningful social-emotional skills through music, movement, story, and reflection. Over time, these experiences build resilience, confidence, and self-trust — supporting children’s well-being, engagement, and readiness to learn.

Who Shooting Star School Is For
Shooting Star School is designed to grow alongside young people across developmental stages. No musical experience is necessary.
As an afterschool enrichment experience, Shooting Star School turns the musical into a living story where kids explore the characters, songs and lessons as they relate to their own lives. This experience is especially well-suited for upper elementary students (grades 4 and above) when children are developmentally ready for shared reflection, imaginative exploration, and applied social-emotional learning through performance and guided discussion.
Our next phase of growth includes curriculum adaptations for middle school students, as well as a High School Mentor Program, where older students serve as Shooting Star Guides — supporting younger children while strengthening their own leadership, confidence, and sense of purpose.
The JOY & The Shooting Stars Songbook can also stand alone as a yearlong resource for music teachers, choirs, and arts-integrated classrooms. Through original songs filled with rhythm, movement, and a vibrant range of musical styles — from folk to reggae to Celtic and musical theatre influences — students explore confidence, emotional awareness, courage, and creative self-expression in ways that feel joyful, engaging, and accessible across ages.
