Shooting Star School is founded on a few simple, powerful principles:

Meet our two most important teachers:
Gremlin and Wise Owl
Kids learn how to calm their inner voice of fear — Gremlin — and unleash the power of their most loving, patient, and creative mind — Wise Owl.
Through songs and scenes from the musical, JOY & The Shooting Stars, students explore each character’s challenges and triumphs. Reflection circles give them space to apply and integrate these lessons into their own lives.
They emerge with a Wise Owl Toolkit filled with social-emotional skills that build confidence, resilience, friendship, and a deep sense of belonging.
Through it all, they find HOME within — learning to face life’s challenges and take Powerful Actions — one breath, one step at a time.
The Musical
Shooting Star School was inspired by the original educational musical JOY & The Shooting Stars, written by Lyons artist and educator, Molly Williams.
In this Wizard of Oz–like journey, audiences are drawn into a fun, interactive dream world where music and story come together to teach The 5 Guiding Lights to SHINE! — the foundation of the social-emotional learning curriculum in Shooting Star School.
Each audience member receives a special light-up pen and joins Mother Sky as a “Little Star” in Shooting Star School. Together, kids and adults learn foundational life skills that strengthen communication, connection, and confidence. Parents leave with a new language of love, while kids leave with a Wise Owl Toolkit to help them SHINE!
Shooting Star School invites students to dive deeper into the lessons woven through every song and scene — practicing those skills in real time.
